The annual chamber music festival BlenioMusica, which has been presented under the name Blenio Festival for the last three years, was founded in the summer of 2021 thanks to the initiative of the young pianist and artistic director Susanna Braun, with roots in Valle di Blenio, in the Italian part of Switzerland. Due to the pandemic, it was impossible for musicians to perform in public and interact with audiences for almost two years. Susanna wanted to give young musicians with outstanding talent the opportunity to return to the stage and perform in front of an audience – since the beginning, the festival had great success.
Thanks to innovative concert programsthat range from baroque to the 21st century, the festival also aims to promote and enrich musical and cultural life in Valle di Blenio and the surrounding area, known for its natural beauty and cultural heritage.
From 2021 to 2023, three editions of the festival were held with concerts in the parish churches of Santo Stefano di Torre and San Martino di Olivone.
As the festival is experiencing rapid growth, it is supported by the association BlenioMusica, which was founded at the end of 2023.
